What to look for:

Most homeowners don't see the value of Centurion garage door motors until it breaks. It is very convenient to open your garage door just by pushing a button while sitting in your car your become used to and accustomed to do this as a way of life. This is all good and well but when your garage door motor stops working it can be a great inconvenience and a lot of the times an absolute disaster. Let's look at a few things that can tell you whether you need to replace your garage door motor or if possible repair it.

The motor is very noisy:

Your older garage door automation systems were very noisy with the bicycle chain fitted to the motor but the new belt drive garage door motors have been proven to be a lot quieter. If your garage door is fitted with one of the old style Motors it's probably time to upgrade your garage door motor especially if the noise bothers  or irritates you. Obviously if you already have new garage automation system and it is making a noise you need to be concerned and it's best to call a technician to come out and have a look and see what the problem is. Also bear in mind the louder the noise gets of a new belt drive motors the closer its life span is.

Vibrating motor:

If your Centurion garage door motor vibrates it usually seems harmless but be very careful because your motor car vibrate so much that it can actually break loose from its bracket all fall down onto your car or God forbid someone is standing under it. When your garage door motor poses such danger it's probably best just to get a new one.

Garage door closes automatically once you've opened it:

If you find your garage door closes by itself automatically after you've opened it don't be alarmed. Allot of the time it has nothing to do with the motor of your garage but actually with the sensors.One of the first things that you can do to sort out this problem is to make sure that both of the sensors are lining up with each other perfectly. It is best to use a professional garage door motor technician to do this job as you need sufficient skill and training to do it. If that doesn't sort out the problem and your Centurion garage door opener still forces the door open once you've closed it I would recommend sweeping the floor to clear it of any dust particles it might be triggering the  sensor. You can also try to clean the photo eye in the sensors with a clean cloth.
