A garage door consists of the following parts. A roller, a hinge, a track, a mounting bracket, springs, drums, door panels and off cause a motor. The garage door motor and door itself are the two main components of the actual garage door and today we are going to take a look at how we can repair both.
Fixing your garage door track
Firstly you need to know that both roll up doors and sectional garage doors use tension springs to lift them. These types of garage doors are known as overhead doors and are quite common in Centurion. Both of these types of doors use rollers that move in metal tracks which are mounted to your garage’s walls. The
tension spring helps the lift up the heavy garage door so that the door can move freely up and down the tracks. now usually if a technician installs your door correctly you shouldn't have any issues but for in case you didn't here are a few tips to help you educate yourself so that you can find the problem as well as a solution to it.
The first thing that you want to do is to assess the metal tracks that the roller wheels move in. You also want to make sure that the mounting brackets are in good condition and that they have been properly installed to hold the tracks to your garage’ wall. if the brackets are not tight it's best to tighten the bolts or screws right away. The next step would be to check if the tracks have any dents or folds in them as this can obstruct the wheels from moving freely in the tracks preventing the garage door from lifting smoothly and effortlessly. If you are working on a budget you can use a rubber mallet or a hammer and plank to knock out the dents. it is however a lot better to replace the tracks with new ones.
